Today I was taking out the window ecu of my discovery to fix the shoddy soldering that meant the back windows worked very rarely. All the guides on the internet made it sound so easy, take out four bolts, pull out two plugs and remove a cover then the whole thing just slides out. Took an hour to get one of the plugs out.
Anyway, once we got to the bit where the ecu just "slides out" there was nowhere near enough room to get it out past the dash. So, my brother in law was in about it with a socket set to remove the plastic casing and then tried with a spanner that was 1mm too big so we went to the shop to buy a 7mm spanner, got home he tried and again couldn't even get the spanner in, so I tried. put my head under to have a look and noticed the that the nut was loose as soon as I touched the thing so it only needed to be spun off with my fingers. Twenty minutes and £2 wasted
Not as good a story as being upside down in a bush but silly enough to share I hope.
