Very good earthlings . . . .but also remember that earths resistance is proportional to length UN inversely proportional to csa [cross sectional area] un yer cable resistance is positive so will increase wiff temp ,this will effect all measured readings ,so yer clever lr guys put in an ambient temp correction plus a rxc [resistor un capacitor] to put a time band to stop the instrument [moving iron] from moving due to hills un fuel slopping . . . . . . .my reason fer spouting this bollocks ,is that it is very likely that the inaccuracy of the instrument could be down to other factors. . . . porky sis :) :) :)

don't think you can just swap the instrument cluster for a later one, I think clutchy said that the later version is a can-bus variant which picks all its info from the ecu, but the earlier version int.

(ready to be corrected)

Well finally plucked up the courage to run the tank low (keeping 5 litres in the boot for emergency)

The light illuminated and I was able to cover 12 miles to the nearest filling station.

See pics attached - look how far the needle drops below the white line even though 5 litres still remains!!

Regards,

Steve

Impressive

In todays fuel climate, you will want to squeeze every last drop out of the tank.
Just fill it up to the redline each time, then run it to the 5litre mark, think of the weight saving when running on fumes ;) = extra fuel economy :D
