Hi, I am from north wales over a year ago i bought a 1971 Landy on ebay a excellent one that had been totaly rebuit and tax exempt and 12 month mot so was very happy,Then a letter came through the post from dvla wanting to inspect the Landy got me very worried, anyway they couldnt find a chassis no so months passed Then the Police came round to ask few questions and wanted a police mechanic to have a proper inspection of everything in case it had used stolen parts etc, The mechanic said the rebuilt was excellent work but too much had been changed with this points system.More months passed and finaly got a letter to say it will go on a Q plate with a new chassis no supplied to be stamped on the chassis and it needs a IVA test whats this and its so far away So now i am totaly pee off and dont know what to do and costs involved ? Lost all interest in the Landy

IVA is the replacement test for the old SVA. I built a new kitcar 3 years ago that got IVA'd.
It's a "Independent Vehicle Assessment" that is carried out at a VOSA testing station via a pre booked
appointment. It's a very strict and in depth MOT style affair, but they check absolutely everything.
The cost is the hardest pill too swallow at £450 for the test and when (if) it fails, a retest is another
£90!

Sorry it isn't good news for you mate.
