Freelander 2 (LR2) Faulty tailgate on 2009 Freelander 2

Hi, I've got a problem on the wife's car. The tailgate won't open when she uses the remote control. It also won't open using the unlock button on the dashboard. It will open using the tailgate button on the remote. So far I've checked the fuse, that was ok. I've tried pressing both locl/unlock buttons and manually opening the tailgate and that works ok. So, I'm pretty stumped what to do next. Any help would be great. Thanks.
