Faultmate....Help!

.

Depends how long you are prepared to wait. Seems to be taking his time.

Yes that is true, but as i understand it the unit will be good for three types of vehicle and not locked to the one it's used on first, like the Faultmate is. I did say earlier that if anyone has an urgent need the Faultmate seems a good piece of kit. Also the software will be freely available for the Storey Wilson unit. We will have to wait and see. If the Wilson unit is any good at all and priced correctly it will be a serious threat to the Faultmate market share. I think the BBs Guy recognises that fact. Another competitivly priced unit on the market can only be good for Range Rover owners, i do not like monopolies.

Do a search for RSW Solutions. Click on news and read the All Comms reports from the begining. That will give you an insight into what Wilson proposes. He is the guy that produced the Easunlock software which is public property and free to down load. All you need is a cheap to buy or make cable to attache it to your laptop. Make your own mind up.

Sorry chap, no offence, but as i am specifically mentioned, it only seems fair for me to give my input in balance.

Writing Software to properly access these older systems is one bloody tough job, requiring at least the setting up of a test vehicle to connect to, which is hardly what you tend to find in some student bedsit. It took us near 6 months to provide FCR software for just read and clear fault code coverage on the P38, and we have been there, done that and got the hat already far more than once, So just who exactly do you or he hope and expect would be willing to work for absolutely nothing to provide this free software?
Especially to the degree we do.

It is a nice dream to any LR owner, and i do understand that, but IMHO it is just that, a dream backed by wishful thinking rather than realistic understanding.

Give it the same 10 years worth of evolution and it might be, as it is, last i heard / read was that he totally forgot about the L line on a basic, fully documented ISO 9141 bus, never mind the other bits i won't mention, but know with absolute certainty he will need, but he does not even realize he will need yet.

Really, There is supposedly free software aviliable for EAS, but we still
cannot build EAS Kickers and EAS kicker lites fast enough to keep up with demand.
And by example, we supply stuff like FCR's for Discovery 3 / 4 sports up to and including 2010, 2007 on Defenders, Freelander 2's and Late L322 in a 100 to 1 ratio to older models that would be covered by Stories dream.
He is slowly working on a bit of hardware he hopes someone will one day freely write software for the P38 Hevac for, Meanwhile i am rapidly writing software that flashes 3.0 Litre engine managements including custom maps from tuners like Pete Bell (BAS) on Disco 4 and 2010 sports etc.
You work it out !!!

Well said chap. We are indeed already very competitively priced, and i have little doubt anyone could provide as much as we do for less, if someone proves us wrong we will of course adapt and adjust.

As for your not liking monopolies, you are indeed a man after my own heart.
For sure you could not mean me, because without any doubt or question I have single handedly done more than any man woman or child could ever possibly do to save Land Rover enthusiasts like you, from having no other choice for diagnostics than to take your vehicle to a dealer. Which is exactly how it was when i started up in 1996.
These days i have provided a range of equipment to suit every pocket and i especially champion private owners and enthusiasts

I could have so easily chosen Jaguar or ford or many others, for which there is still currently nothing at all outside a dealer, and consider if BBS went under tomorrow, what else would you have available to you and how quickly would its price rise ?

Food for thought perhaps, but in summation i retort, just be careful of exactly what you wish for ;)

You do indeed supply a comprehensive array of equipement which by all reports is excellent quality. I wonder why you consider you need to defend your position from a student in his bedsit. Let us be candid here, the only reason you are on here is to advertise your product. If for instance you donated one of your up market units to the forum for loaning out to members then i would say you had the enthusiast in mind. Other than that you are just trying to sell units and offering support at a price. That is understandable you have a business to run and this forum provides a source of potential revenue. ;)

I see my disguise is just not working at all ;)
And i really must work on a more informative user name :p

For clarification, my student bedsit comment was just my visualisation of those who may be willing to write free software. :hippie:

I do not deny that my being on here has some possible benefits to our unit sales, however small.

But have you or anyone considered just what a huge risk it is for me to be here.
I fully open myself and BBS up publically to absolutely anyone with a criticism, complaint or axe to grind, no matter how just or unfair or what secret agenda they may have. :croc:

Although i say it myself, you must appreciate, that takes balls, and a true belief in your product and services that sadly few others can match these days.
It also allows direct acces to clarification and information about our products. Both of which are far more likely to benefit our unit sales than any amount of self promotion.

By Example, the recent FCR group buy benefitted over a dozen, now very happy members of this forum, including one of our stoutest critics, But can you honestly say that the fact that i was here and stood to loose so much credibility if it all went wrong was not a factor.

I apologise if i occasionally slip and get all bleary eyed, defensive or salesly about our products, and **** some people off with my ego and self opinionated attitude, if i were promoting stuff i really did not believe with all my heart would help someone out and which they will ultimately be so appreciative of, that would be different.

Sadly, it is only natural that i end up being more involved in posts related to diagnostic equipment, usually ours, especially in the early stages of my membership to a forum such as this, but ultimately it is unfair to say that this is the only reason for me to become a member. I own half a dozen Landies of various vintages which i fix myself, and boy don't they need a lot of that. Not all of which needs Diagnostic equipment. I have a lot of knowledge and experience i try to share as time allows.

Just today i was thanked by PM by someone in the US for a post i wrote some time back detailing changing the Fuel pump on a 4.4 L322. I also got another thank you PM from someone reading my D3 upgrade one.

On here i have posted up about my current L322 infotainment upgrade.

Sorry but i think most of your posts on this forum should be moved to the advetisement section. There is no such thing as bad pulicity. You are taking advantage of that on here. You are a very clever manipulator of a situation that's for sure. I personally think your name should at the very least be red don't you?

At least BBS guy is helping P38 owners. I don't always like his approach, I put that down to the generation gap, but his input and discounts more than make up for the rhetoric IMO:D
