Fatality Moel Llys Y Coed

02/03/2014
North Wales Police were called to a serious incident involving an off road land rover at Moel Llys Y Coed, near Mold in the early hours of this morning.

The land rover appears to have toppled down a hilled public area. Sadly, the driver sustained fatal injuries.

No other vehicles are thought to be involved and there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

I have just learnt of a tragic accident very close to where I live. I don't have much information on it, but it appears a 4x4 on a local lane to me came into difficulties and rolled down a hill.

It is a reminder of the potential dangers we all face. I know I become very complacent, this is a chilling reminder of the dangers involved if due diligence and care isn't taken. It is all too easy for something to go wrong.

My thoughts go to friends and family of the driver who sadly lost his life whilst out enjoying what we all love on here.

Woah. Yeah tragedy.

Have to wonder though, earlier hours of the morning (?dark) and no other vehicles involved (?on their own or what?)

Highlights the dangers. Your right complacency kills.

Poor person :(

From Total Off Road Facebook Page

The victim of Saturday night's tragic accident has been named as Gareth Huw Roberts. North Wales Police have told us that the vehicle (a trayback 90 with a full cage) was driving "near a bridleway but not on a public right of way."

They couldn't confirm whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt, or how many times the vehicle went over. However, there will be an investigation by NE Wales Coroner's Court which will no doubt establish these matters.

Once again, irrespective of land access issues, we're sure the whole of the 4x4 community will join us in sympathy to Gareth's bereaved family. RIP.

Just passing along whats out there. Not making on judgement on the poor lad its a real tragedy.
From all members of Shropshire Lanes Group RIP! Greatest condolences to the family and friends
