Richard,

I took my P38 off road yesterday, well parked in a field anyway & the
immobiliser piece of sh*te gave me grief & wouldn't let me start the
car for an hour while it sulked* !!! Can you give me a price for a new
alarm receiver, the latest incarnation - YWY500170 (NOT YWY500010 or
even worse ASR1953) please? Also while I'm here a price for the remote
key buttons, battery cover & o-ring (sorry, don't have the part nos to
hand).

* I know, I shouldn't have bothered !!!

Cheers,
Chrisall.

Wonder if it could be down to Radar / Hi frequency interference as
previously mentioned? More likely if you were on a hill overlooking say an
airport... unlikely if you were at the bottom of a remote Welsh valley -
inless that there is an RAF site there of course.

Just a thought as the symptoms you describe have been found by peeps in such
circumstances.

Only one way to find out unfortunatley, well two actually.... either wait
till it does/doesn't do it again or go park in the same spot with another
vehicle ready to tow it into a shadow of what ever causes the interference.

Were there any strange lights in the sky? Odd humming noises, unexplained
puncture marks on your skin and unexplaned passage of time ? ;-)

The receiver is an absolute bargain at £141.47 inc VAT :)
I'll have to get the proces for the other bits - I need the
colour (Ash Grey or Black) and the VIN number.

I think it was one of those mobile phone masts disguised as a tree.
The only passage of time was the hour I spent fri*ging about trying to
enter the EKA code.... now then, is it as stated in the owners
handbook, workshop manual or A.N.Other? They all contradict & nobody
seems to know exactly how to do it.

Thanks Richard, I'll get you the VIN this eve. Colour is black ...
about the same as the mood I was in yesterday afternoon !!! I think I
might spend a bit of time this weekend trying to bypass the stupid
thing. I know it's smart enough to know if you just bridge the starter
relay though.

Popular mythology has it that the favoured route for disabling
these immobilisers involves a box of matches..... ;-)
