Evening folks. My first post after buying my first landy, a 1984 defender 90. Had it a few weeks and all well until around midnight last night when out of nowhere the fan started up. It stayed on for around 20 mins then intermittently. I hadn't realised how noisy it was! Sorry if this is a common fault but I'd appreciate any advice. Cheers

Dodgy wiring, ie a chafed wire or dodgy thermal switch.
Some us Bi-Metal switches that connect when at a certain temperature then click off when they cool, these can stick on or get weak and so not fully click back.

a 1984 90 does not have an electric fan normally. someone has added it. wiring fault. possible fire :flame:.
Hope not! Yes it's had some modifications. I'd power washed underneath earlier in the day, shorting?
