Fan Noise

Evening, a question if I may, I have a noise like a loud-ish hum/buzzing from the heater fan (I think) if i raise or lower the fan speed the the noise goes but comes back at constant speed. Its not always there mainly when the car is could and goes off on its own after a while (sometime lingers on a long while).

Any ideas would be gratefully received. 2012 Range Rover OverFinch Westminster 4.4

Nice bus! Would it be calibrating itself?
Is this when it's on climate control or on Manuel settings as well?o_O
If you turn the heating system off, is it still there? Only ask because it could be something else, maybe a gearbox mount or gearbox rumble..I hope not:eek::p
 
The noise is gone if the fan is switched off and it does not matter if manual or auto heating mode is used, its not to loud but loud enough to annoy.
Mainly when the engine is cold and sound in the cabin not under the car or in the engine bay (although noise travels).

With fan running at low speed if it comes on I can speed the fan up or slow it down and the noise will go, it does not stop straight away if switched fan switched off intakes about 10/15 seconds then the sound stops so don't know if the fan has an overrun on it???

Doesn't sound like bearings and if you speed the fan up there is no change of volume as you would expect just the rsh of air then the noise goes. i would assume filters are fitted. I have seen that the fan can be dusty so I will have to figure out where it is and how to get to it and give it clean.

Hi that does sound like a possibility. I have had a search and can't find much info on it, it does continue if the ignition is switched on and I would assume it turns off once cabin temp is warm/reached.
How do I locate this little bugger to inspect it or lubricate if thats an option?

Thanks, I take it the fan is behind that? when inside the car it sounds like from the passenger side footwell when out like just infant of the passenger side?
