Its not so much the fitting, its the total time spent, get the car in, up on the hoist, open the boxes, find the instructions, work out whats what, try and fit them, play hung the drill etc etc then park the car up and thats your two hours.
Ps thats an unusually dry land rover, have you got any oil in it!?
Yeah, I got all the garage receipts for the stuff done. Rebuild was four years ago, but you know what it's like when you buy something. It's wise to have someone independednt ust check it over. That looks to me like it has had a full professional rebuild in the not too distant past. Could be why it isn't leaking.
you forgot the clean up time and put tools away after wiping them off and wash there hands and then write the work order upIts not so much the fitting, its the total time spent, get the car in, up on the hoist, open the boxes, find the instructions, work out whats what, try and fit them, play hung the drill etc etc then park the car up and thats your two hours.

I dont understand why people think mechanics should work at lightening speed and the garage employing them should underpay them for the pleasure.
Incredibly well spotted. An exhaust bracket was on the MOT advisory. The chap who sold it me said he'd had it done that morning but his face knew I knew he was telling a porky lol. The chap today was supposed to do it with the steps (another reason I was a bit flat after picking it up)Need to change the tie wrap for an exhaust rubber.
Looks a tidy motor underneath.
Just think how long it would take you to fit? Do you think it was value for money?
This is why most LR owners do/attempt most jobs
I defo don't expect anything for chips. I think some mechanics should definitely work a bit faster than they do, methodically and in an uninterrupted fashion. You wouldn't want a brain surgeon on a piddling 100k a year for an 80 hour week farting about on your hippocanthus the way some mechanics fart about in the garage. And don't say some don't, because I've seen it,I dont understand why people think mechanics should work at lightening speed and the garage employing them should underpay them for the pleasure.
I agree with this moderate response. It was labour only. Tools on the Christmas list.If it was £140 for labour only then I’d be a little p*ssed off, you’ll need to find a more realistic mechanic or get some spanners for Christmas and tackle some of the simpler jobs yourself, you’ll be bankrupt within a year otherwise!
