Hi all, well iv swapped my injector pump over for a 300tdi pump. But it won't start. The pump came off a discovery that a guy was breaking . Now as I was putting the pump on I noticed the union for the boost pressure was rusty, so I popped the top off but the diaphragm was stuck to it and lifted out as well , I didn't mark where the it was. Also the lift pump has no pumping pressure , only the last quarter of the stroke has a small amount of pressure , is it cooked? Help.!!!!!!

Boost plumbing won't affect starting. Have you made sure you have bled fuel up to the FIP? Also check you have 12v at stop solenoid. If you suspect solenoid you can take the spring/plunger out (refit rest). If it starts you will need to stall stop and get a new solenoid

Won't need 300 injectors as they are the wrong size. The boost diaphragm and the small boost pin (Dowell'd Cam) not sure if I've put that back right, but thinking of it I can double check it's right by looking at the old pump.

the boost diapraghm pin will have a wear mark on the side that has been operating the lower pin just realign by that.
What makes you think you can fit a 300tdi injection pump?

300 pump to 200 engine has been done many times before.
The lift pump will only work manually when the pump is off the cam so rotating the engine either way may help, new lift pumps are cheap, they are also **** and dont seem to last
Crack inj pip at injector and crank engine, if healthy squirt you prob have timing or fip problem.

I put the diaphragm back to what it was . Then turned the engine so the lift pump was off the cam . Then just bled it and cranked it untill it fired. All good now except she puffs out abit of black smoke under load at about 40 - 60 mph

Ok so after a few miles under my belt with the 300tdi pump , she is still puffing out black smoke under load , and iv noticed she will run abit hotter than she use to. Anyone have an idea why? Thanks

Someone may have increased fueling. Knock adjuster back until it stops smoking when engine is revved and adjust idle to suit. You will lose a bit of uumph though. Or you may not have got boost fuel pin back exactly right.

If I remember right on my 300tdi disco engine there was a small indent in the rubber diaphragm. Stand next to the drivers wing and look at the fuel pump, the small indent should be at 12 o clock.

I think!

Has the 300tdi fip made it quicker and why did you decide to fit one?
