A quick hello after doing a bit of lurking but finally registering today...

I'm Paul, 40 and originally from Barnsley but now settled in Norfolk. I've had a few 4x4's previously but the Freelander (TD4) is my first landy, and no, I'm not a hairdresser or gay...:p:D

The car is used for daily transport but I do a lot of shooting/helping out with gamekeeping so it does get some mild off road use. Bought mainly for the fact that it has half decent fuel consumption & comfort but will still get me where I need to be when it gets a bit slippy/muddy; so far so good!

Anyway that'll do for now, I'm off to do a search for tyre recommendations...:)

Thanks chaps:)

Mine is currently running on the tyres fitted when I bought it (2nd hand) earlier this year. They are a mix of road biased tyres; Bridgestone Dueller on the rear and Goodyear Wrangler on the front. They are 195/80 R15.

I was going to get some Falken AT's as I had some before on a Mitsubishi and was impressed with price and performance. The only spanner in the works is that my local tyre place suggested my current fitment was a bit small and I could potentially go to 215's, though if I'm right in my thinking this will mean replacing all tyres including the spare?

Is it worth going to 215's or best sticking with the 195? For what it's worth, I don't care about how much 'better' a wider tyre might look. I'd rather have the best one for the job.

Cheers:)

P.S. I did look at a few Discos before I bought the Freelander, it was the fuel consumption which decided it for me. One day...;)

Hi mine were the same size but slightly narrower than standard

they were good offroad check out the link in my signature bit and you will see what iput it throught.
Only reason I changed to the Disco is my mate and I are making a trailer up to tow my series 2a about to different offroad days with the clubs im in
and don't think freebi would handel it, Mind you had a big trailer with a Jag behind the freelander and also tow my mate back after the engine in his Frontera seized, and that was in ice and snow

Have fun

Thanks Rob, I'll probably stick with the 195's if the 215's offer no extra performance benefit. Have to say I've been very impressed with the Freelander since I bought it, even though a couple of mates have taken great delight in dishing out some mickey taking!:D
