Extra switch locations. Ideas and pics please

I am about to kit my toy with some extra lights and bits, and as a result i have 4 small rocker switches to put somewhere to control it all.
The only place i have really thought of is on the blank plate where the sun roof switch would be, but true to form my head liner has sagged and the previous owner glued it back so this is ruled out unless i replace this first (and that means waiting).
If anybody has any ideas or pics of theirs, please share.
Also what is the best way of getting the wiring from a set of roof lights into the cab, or is it through the shell, end of story?
Looking forward to the usual help and banter guys and girls.

I have made up a metal plate just infront of the difflock lever around the cig lighter, I haven't a pic on me but can put one up later. You really are limited for choice on a disco.

As for roof lights, I drilled a hole in my roof and run them that way, bit of sealant and its all good, no leaks...

Sounds cool, would be great if you can add a pic. Im learning what all the old landy sayings mean now lol. Evan though we can see no space, us boys wont be stopped, or as i said "oops but i already bought it so will have to do it some how" lmao

I found that the "Mudpod" from Mudstuff is ideal for this...
MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, MUD Dashboard Pod - 'MudPod', Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire
Although it is intended for the Defender it fits just right on top the Disco dash where the coin tray is. I don't have any pics of mine but there are some examples on the website.
I ran the roof light wire down the groove in the windscreen rubber, I held it in place with a few strategic dabs of black silicon, then under the plastic trim at the bottom into the bulkhead/scuttle area and then into the engine bay to the relay. I only needed the one wire as the lights are earthed to the light bar. If you use black wire it is almost invisible.

I like that, I looked into trying to build something like that and then gave up as the metal plate was easier...

I have yet to fit my two battery gauges and there will be 1 more switch going in for the cooling fan...
 
I have taken the idea of a made up switch panel/box, but as mine is auto i am going to use the gap between the gear and range selectors. The plans are made up so when i get the materials will make up and post to see what you think.
 
When I put my light bar on,

I just drilled a small hole in the gutter, fed the wire for the lights in at the top of the door. saves drilling holes in your roof which might end up leaking further on in time,

But my switches are where the sunroof switch would be, just a pitty your head lining has been glued as it has plenty room for 2 or 3 switches
 
Doubt even £30.00 as I buy sheets of steel 1mm thick - 2m x 1m for just over £20.00, so plenty in them to bash one together with ;)
 
After looking around, i designed my own:
It sits between the transfer selector and auto gear selector

Jongould, please please post how you made the metal plate and where you fixed the upper edge. I think that this idea will be ideal for my question about gauges that you kindly replied to.

I used a piece of cardboard to get the shape roughly correct (its not perfect) and then cut from 1.6mm steel, the upper edge I made tuck into the upper dash, the bottom is screwed into the console, i cut out the rear for access and use speed clips to screw into.

There isnt much room behind there, I doubt a gauge would fit to be honest, im using digital battery moniters. Generic gauge pods would be best just mounted next to the binnacle

I will run a +ve from each battery and then relay on an ignition live system, this will mean the gauges will only come on with ignition and save you from adding another drain to the system...
