The Exhaust on my 90 200TDI has finally broke.
Was not that good when I bought the car so new it did not have much left in it.
It was a side through exhaust, who ever fitted it done away with both silencers, and after reading up on fitting exhausts seems like there is quite a few people doing the same.
Is there any big difference in doing it that way?? apart from the sound.

Anyway I have a decent second hand proper 200 tdi one to fit so will put it baclk to normal.

When i did mine i certainly had more poke along with noise. If you put the standard exhaust back on it will sound a lot quieter but performance will also suffer slightly. Something to do with gases getting out quicker, easier breathing...........

Putting it back to Original with two silencers one in the middle and one at the back runnining hrizontal with rear cross member.
The old one without the silencers was very noisy and got to the point where it snapped just under the crossmember and fumes were coming up inside in the back corner.
Not really bothered about slight lack of performance. Be nice to have it quieter and no smell of fumes in the cab.:)
So do people tend to do it that way to get more performence??
Wonder if it contributes to my black smoke problem in one of my other posts:confused:

No, it does not. Continuous black smoke is unburned fuel, so it will be a problem with the injector pump (adjustment) or maybe even an injector.
Cheers, The black smoke is an on going problem.
Everyone says the same so waiting on someone that knows what there doing as I have not got a clue, also frightened incase I make it worse.

Oldsedog is going to try and get a look next weekend for me.

Just finished putting the second hand original exhaust back to normal.
Tight fit but managed in the end, got a few skinned knuckles but finally managed on my own.
Seems a lot quieter will give it a run in a bit to try it out.
