Hi all
As the title says I'm looking for ideas for running the exhaust on Joe my 90.Would deleting the back box make it much noisier.
Show me what you've done,tia
cheers
Steve

Not looking to make it noisier particularly,I quite like the look where exhaust exits through side of tub so was wondering whether people kept back box still.

Is it a factory 200Tdi or a conversion?

Which part of the side panel. If you mean behind the rear well, then you'll have to ditch the rear silencer, although you could relocate it. If you mean between the door and rear wheel arch. Then you'll either have to straight pipe it or completely custom fab up a silencer. Both likely to increase noise, the one by the door more so. Esp if you have the windows down.

Also worth noting that cutting a hole in the body tub is a one way mod. You won't be able to easily 'undo' it.

Don't know if its a conversion or not, turbo sticks up if that tells you anything.I agree about once its done its done,if I do choose to go through side of tub it would be behind rear wheel.
Thanks for your input : )

Messy yes - and the MOT tester gets the arse about a) offensive to pedestrians and cyclists and b) Can’t keep the emissions probe inserted in the exhaust….

Too picky

My 200tdi 90 had a rear quarter panel exit so when at maximum articulation (had a twist-kit fitted) it didn’t rip the tail pipe off, it had a custom fab pipe that deleted the back box.

Centre pipe silencer delete made it too loud so refitted the silencer mid pipe. Downside of this setup was that rain got into the outlet when parked and sprayed corrosive sooty water out on start-up. Fitted a rubber flap over the outlet to fix it.

The exit behind passenger door tends to delete all the silencers and just makes a Landy too noisy

for my liking….

So vanity or decibels basically….

+1. Mine was done for a specific purpose, off road mud plugging and getting buried. On road it was a bear and, frankly, downright daft…
