Exhaust Manifold Heat Shields

One of my Rangies is missing both heat shields. The other is now missing the one on the drivers side courtsey of my recent need to remove the exhaust manifold. Does anybody have any experience of running their Rangie with missing heat shields or should I be looking to replace them ASAP?

i never put my heat shields back on that was over a year ago no probs so far ..
