L322 exceedingly wet, cant make out spec!

Last Hilux was a 52 plate, last 90 was a ‘98.

Hilux is well deaded rotten beyond repair and seriously not worth it.
The 90 was rotten right though several years ago, not 1 straight panel, engine seized the lot ..... although I have heard tale someone has it and is “putting it right” :eek::eek::oops:.... if correct only thing it will have in common with what I owned is the registration number!

P38 will be back on the road as my daily next year, just needs few little bits sorting first :D:p:cool:
if you can believe it.. i once loved volvos.. 0nes twos sevens and nines,series, one of the 245 was rotten from n/s outer sill inner sill and floor up to the tunnel from front floor pan to rear pan! then rotten across the rear boot shut down, it was a w reg in the late ninties when i owned it and started welding the fecker up, like it was left in a swamp,it turned out well in the end.
 
Old Volvos were good. Made from proper metal that could be fixed. Boys reckon new ones aren’t too shabby but not like the Volvos of old more a modern Ford.

I've got a 1967 Volvo 122S estate. Still solid, a tiny bit of rust, some cracked plastics but otherwise doing just fine. Less downtime than my P38.

I'm contemplating an early 2000s V50 or V40 and I'm wondering if the boys still count those as an old school Volvo or a new one. Still Swedish, not Chinese yet but I don't know if I'm going to get that sort of life expectancy out of it.

Hmmmm. I've got a v50, 2.0d.. Peugeot engine, it's pretty quick being tuned. A ford focus platform and for/mazda suspension. The weakest point is the electronics and the dodgy connections... Once a year it'll stop responding to driver input and have to be turned off and turned on again ten minutes later then its fine for around a year. Comms errors in virtually every module. Lead free solder and fiber optics.... Ffs... :rolleyes:

Ah nuts. That's what I was afraid of. Must be a Greta Thunberg thing. I hate these disposable modern cars which are ready for recycling long before the owner's done with them.

I'm taking a long hard look at a v50 T5 and if there's issues with them then I guess I better take a long hard look at finding a forum like this for them, huh?

Any idea if they're manageable with a bog standard OBD II diagnostic or do they need something special like Faultmate?

Thanks man..... that's 1 owner from new. My dad bought it, brought mum and me home from hospital in it when I was born.... and then passed it to me when he figured he didn't have the energy or patience to restore it.

That's the only car I have that I won't sell..... even the P38 will go before that does.

i can still remember the interior smell, its like im going back in time to a better place, love it.

It depends on the level of the diag scanner.
I have an autel mx808, it does a lot of stuff on a lot of cars, even reads certain areas on the 38's. I have an autel al519 scanner with some graphing possible but a good place to start is the Icarsoft that covers the Volvo. Doesn't have graph capabilities like the autel mx808 but it depends on your budget and requirements.
I'd avoid the v50 t5, sounds like real fun if it is a 4x4 also but funk that if it goes wrong.. Old, complicated and expensive to repair.... Sounds familiar....
