Hi all,

I've been searching around on here and the internet and trying to find something definitive that states that an espar hydronic 5 coolant heater can be mounted on its side. I've seen some pictures of them mounted sideways but have not read anything official from Espar which states it can. Does anyone know if the coolant heater can be mounted on its side, or is it best left vertical??

Thanks,

As for an update... I got it all in except for plumbing the new coolant lines in and T'ing off the existing ones.

Also, have a dual battery setup which I have been working on in combination with some new storage boxes in the rear load space. That is work in progress and got a lot to finish for that... but here are a few pics of whats been done so far for everyone to critique.

I don't know why but on the forum page it doesn't post the exact link so here is a step by step to get there....

1) Go to this link: Land Rover Defender Forum - Defender & Series Owners Community
2) Click on "Defender Forum" at top left corner of the screen
3) Click on "Defender Technical Discussions"
4) scroll down the list of discussion until you see "Espar Heater..." by USLandy.

Hope that helps, i"ll try figure out this picture thing or getting the actual link...

Thanks got there. I have been considering fitting a Webasto heating system in my Defender but they cost about grand. I will be interested to see how you get on with yours.

Well the airtronic cab heater is great! You can feel the heat coming in about 3-4 min and it keeps it warm in some cold conditions, its 14 Degrees F in Chicago and I was in a long sleeve shirt and jeans driving around comfortably, actually had to turn it down a bit.

As for the Hydronic I just need to plumb the coolant lines in and get the seven day timer and it will be ready to go. Once that is finished I'll post up how it does.

I shall look forward to seeing that.
