Hello all. D4 EPB replacement costs. I have been quoted £1200. Does that seem reasonable? I have been told after market modules aren't worth it, but it seems genuine Landrover ones aren't either. (I'm pretty sure this one was replaced 3 years ago). If I could find someone in Somerset willing to fit an after market one I would but it seems I can't. 1200 is getting on for 1/4 the value of the vehicle.
This is a follow up to this thread: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-ro...-at-zero-engine-cuts-out.399054/#post-5856308
I have checked the shoes and re adjusted. Inside the drums it is very clean and rust free. The EPB motor just spins and there appears to be no load on it and I don't really have a way of getting the vehicle up enough to take a look inside. After attempting to apply the break I get about 15 seconds of motor winding and then the yellow fault and I have to clear the ECUs to try again.
Thoughts?

If you cant get to it to look inside then you will have to pay somebody to take it out.
If it seems like "no load" has it had the emegency cable pulled and just not managed to reconnect?
Or the gears are stripped so it cant go through its sequence to reconnect.

Do you know if the cables actually pull?

I had to pull the emergency cable. It turned out to be just the fuse had blown but having removed the rear drums, checked and re fitted / adjusted I can't get it to re connect. I had started to conclude that the EPB module was actually broken but I have to say the phrase "reconnect" seems the most likely. I just can't see how to get to the module past the diff and exhaust, given I can only do it lying on my back with the vehicle on axle stands. I would gladly pay someone to take it out but I can't find anyone in my area who will do anything other than replace the whole thing with a Land Rover one, including the shoes which still have plenty of meat on them.
As for the cables actually pulling, they aren't jammed. See the video:

Seems like this driver side cable is moving freely. I have been through the Gap tool Control io/PBM/position/mount/latch but clicking on either does nothing, no noise. The only thing I get from the EPB module is a spinning motor after clearing all ECU faults each time.
I really want to save myself £1200 if I can!

I think the diag tool will reconnect it for you after emergency pull has been used ? have to do some research as I may be talking out of my arse!

With the susp in off road mode and the spare wheel out of the way access is not to bad, not easy though, make sure you chock up the chassis whilst you are under there.
The epb module is held onto the chassis with 4 little bobbins, it might be worth getting some off ebay then you can just cut the module free and use new bobbins when refitting?

I was hoping that would be the case but it doesn't seem to do anything. I would expect to hear something happen. Same with unjam procedure (not that I think it is jammed), I click on "continue" and nothing happens.
This is a D4. I can barely see the module, only feel it but I am so un-familiar with this vehicle I may have missed something and all the stuff I have found on the web is for the D3
