I have a 300Tdi engine with the 23L prefix.

Does anyone know how to date 300Tdi engines?

I understand that the 23L was a late model of this engine type.

I think last 300 engine i saw had a date cast into the drivers rear side of the cylinder head.
In fact im sure the 200 did as well.
Little circle with numbers like 23/93 ie week 23 1993.

Hmmm...I'll have to pull out the old head from my workshop and have a peak.

I replaced the whole top end the last time I blew the head gasket due to small cracks around the glow plug holes...but I kept it anyway because you never know....

Found the cast mark on my old head 47/97....so i'm thinking that it was built in november 1997.
