Hello all.....Over the last month or so i've noticed a whine" from the engine on my 1999MY 2.5 TD5 (most definately a new noise), i'm fairly sure it's not transmission related as the "whine" can be heard when stationary in neutral with foot off the clutch. The noise is relative to the engine speed, so if you rev the engine the whine increases and decreases at the same rate as the engine revs drop off.....i'm thinking....Water pump, alternator, power steering or........? Anybody else with a TD5 had this issue and resolved it...?
Thank you in advance for your help. TS

If anyone interested the 2 pulley wheel bearings were shot on the aux belt....replaced & noise all gone & cheap fix with 2 new bearings at £5 each.
