Hi

I’ve a 2014 Freelander that recently committed suicide and required a new engine. I sourced one from a same year model from a reliable supplier and my local garage has eventually been able to fit it. Lots of new bits added, clutch, fly wheel etc etc but when it came to starting it has no oil pressure. Are we missing something silly that needs to be done with oil filters or something.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi there, you should begin with the obvious then work your way in. Firstly I would double check there is oil in it. If the oil filter is the paper cartridge type then make sure the filter housing isn’t damaged. Often the tip of it where the o ring sits is the actual plug that stops oil returning to the sump from the filter housing. If the filter housing is all ok and has all the o rings in the right places then you may wanna drain the oil and use an inspection camera to look in the sump to make sure the pick up pipe is ok and it’s strainer isn’t blocked. All of that has to be ok for the oil pump to supply the engine with oil properly.
