You might have to remove the flywheel housing and bolt the stand directly to the engine block.

Yes just watched a couple of vids shouldn't be that har

What sise bolts are they Kev ? how far should they thread in to engine ?
d.

Cani remember  Im sure when I first got mine I used long m8 bolts n penny washers, as the
bolts I had wernt long enough to go through the stand into the engine, also no flywheel housing
was fitted. I used my engine crane to get it into position. :)

I used some long M10 bolts with locknuts

on my series 3 , earlier engines might have different thread, check the bellhousing bolts sizeView attachment 246083 , they only need to go in 10-15mm
Thanks Mate might have some lying about.
My engine is at rebuilders at the mo but they still have not priced it up yet, depending on what it needs Im hoping to get it done, but they only paint them black, so going to mount it on my stand and try and give it a decent paint job in the right colour, think it is duck egg blue or something.

View attachment 246158 Wish it was , no I have a 200tdi engine but kept in the original gold colour, I’m on with the 2286 diesel and will keep that the original terracotta colour
Looking great. Wished I was as clever as that. How often do you rebuild engines, Not to far away from me if you fancy another job ;).
I also have a cracking 300tdi here only 80000 miles, probably keep it for another project in the future.

Actually that was the first engine I have completely stripped down, and didn’t need any major work, just changed the bearings and seals mostly, but when I got stuck all the answers and knowledge came from here, it does help though to have had a mechanical engineering apprenticeship many years ago. 300tdi must be very similar to 200tdi and reliable engine

Can't believe that price!
I use old supermarket trollies cut down but I think you'll find they bolt to the end of the crank and/or the clutchplate.
but I don't have one so not sure.;)
