Hi all,
I have an 02 Td4 which I have had for about 4 months, I imported it from UK and live in Cyprus. Last week I was at work and at the end of my shift, the engine just would not start. I had it recovered to the garage in my village who eventually diagnosed that the fuel pump in the tank was u/s.

The cost of a new pump from the only Landrover dealer on island was huge money and I got one DHL'd out here from LRDirect for a fraction of the cost.

Well enough of that story, I have just picked up the Freelander after the pump replacement and now the engine management warning light is on. I would add that for a couple of occasions before the pump went, when I turned the engine off, there was a very slight delay before it actually stopped but when it went to the garage the engine management light was not on.

I would appreciate any help or advise as the on island dealer not only charges huge amounts for spares but also for service.

Many thanks
Mick

So they changed the lift pump in the tank? Was the MIL on before they changed the pump?
Has the fuel filter been changed? If possible you need to get the fault codes read that have caused the MIL to come on.
Worth checking the plug on the the high pressure sensor at the end of the fuel rail - these can green up and fail.

Out of curiosity is that the north or south of Cyprus you live? Ive spent a spell there with the Army clearing the ranges on Akamas

regards

Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the info, the light was not on before the engine would not start and not before they changed the pump.
Nick in the garage said about the sensor at the end of the fuel rail and I assume he checked this.
We live in the south just to the west of Limassol in Erimi village. I beleive The Akamas was cleared several years ago, leastways there is no UK military training at all in The Akamas now.
