For my sins.....Essex
Hi all,
I'm sure I can't be the first to drain the oil on a 300TDI and then find that the thread on the drain plug seems to be a bit on the FUC*ED side. Just went to pinch it up "spanner tight" and the little darling just kept on turning!
Any suggestions most welcome. Although I suspect that I need to re-tap and use a bigger plug. Sounds kinda obvious but thought some of you might know of a remedy.

many thanks
Z

Nah Mr Slob you don't use nowt on parallel freds except a washer and possibly a Locktight type sealant. PTFE or hemp can stretch the female fred and end up knackering it don't you see.

dear mr grunt i dint mean to infer that you used it on square freds. i mearly meant that a man of standing such as yer self would be more inclined.
to use hemp rather than ptfe tape.

i assumed you wood have used hemp and tallow for fred sealing

My dear Mr Slob I'm most terribly sorry for the confusion. I am of the hemp and paste generation yes, but however as far as sealing freds is concerned I have grasped modernity and progress with both hands and am a big supporter of PTFE which incidentally is available in liquid form.

well i'll go to the foot of our stairs!!! tape in a liquid form.. what will they think of next.

speaking of which have you seen that new microwave bed???
