Engine number location?

I have recently bought a series IIa with an early SD1 or rangie V8 lump and can't find the engine number. Where is it?!!

check out were the engine dipstick goes in sure its on a flat there along with compression ratio.

Thanks I found it with your help. Turns out to be a range rover carb, early low compression type. Does this mean it is only 130bhp and more torque or something? I have a set of 2inch SU's for it too. Bit concerned about the gearbox though, anyone know about this or have experience with a V8 series IIa conversion?
