Hi there, all the symptoms you mention are classic of a fuel sedimentor full of cack.

You NEED to get this off and I suspect you'll find a sort of mayonnaise/snot looking substance, which rises and falls with the demand for fuel.

Get it off, clean it and she'll run like a bird.

Good luck

Dave

cheers dave, looks like its never been done so goin to be a right job but ill get there in the end:(

cheers dave, been at the sedimenter today and for the life of me cant get the thing off! cant get a ratchet between the boot floor and nut on the top and when i did the nut just turned. gave up in the end (very unlike me) will try a nnew fuel filter this week, fingers crossed

If the nut is turning then it must be loosening or the thread has gone, if thats the case air could be getting in there. I found it easier to take the whole lot off and give it a good clean, it really was full of crap!

With this air in diesel issue it's very easy to end up chasing your tail, if the new filter had an air leak after you fitted it and you then get a problem, now if you move to another area and create a leak there you start to lose focus on where the real problem is/was.

I filled a plastic fuel can with diesel and connected it to the tank side of the lift pump and then primed and run the engine. This might be a way to discount the sedimenter and connecting pipes.

keep us all posted.

regards

Dave
