Hi,

Since my engine got remapped it's a little noisy and therefore I was wondering if anyone has had any success with reducing noise by soundproofing the engine? Appreciate the TD5 does like to chug but I'm trying to reduce noise since I added my roof rack which now makes a whistle noise on the motorway.

A map won't, well shouldnt, make you engine any more noisy, it will however adjust the tone of the exhaust.

Dynamat/Fatmat on your bonnet followed by fire retardant foam will help if you havnt an acoustic cover already. Other than that change the exhaust.

Ahh yes this is on, still a bit noisey so wondering if there was another acoustic piece. I had a injector leak and spray it with diesel a number of months ago and it looks a bit tatty so may get a new one

Yes, there is another piece as I mentioned at the rear of the head (will be behind and below the top part of the cover in the photo). Some people remove it to make it easier to replace the top cover and gasket and don't put it back on.

I've a feeling this was done by my garage. I swear they removed the heat shield and didn't replace it and also when they installed the snorkel then didn't seal it. Annoying little things like that :(
