Afternoon all

todays dilemma.!!
From literally no where (I’ve never noticed it)

I’ve noticed quiet a loud knocking when the engines running. I’m going to try and work out how to post a video. And see who thinks what. But as the title suggests. It can’t be good :(. It’s a shame because when I purchased this I was genuinely looking forward to getting her former glory back and I know these have there problems but I didn’t think I’d be getting into serious engine works ect. And perhaps foolishly thought the v8 was pretty strong. Anyway I guess all that it worst case. Let me know your thoughts.

as always. Greatly appreciate anyones input.

I take it we are talking about your P38?

Try putting it on U tube then posting the link:).

It works.
And sorry to say it dont sound good:(.
had it warmed up when you first heard it, Or was it cold start?
Dont rev it and listen with a screw driver( poor mans stethoscope) top and bottom. To try and narrow it down a bit.

Oil condition?

Cold when I noticed it and cold when I did the video. Although it doesn’t go away. Funnily enough I did try that and when you’ve got the screwdriver on it sounds loud all round can’t really pin point anything. The oil isn’t to bad actually and is just under full. I topped it up just to be sure and nothing changed

Bit deflated to be honest. I purchased as a project a month back and I’ve been on it most days spent some money but I’m not prepared to fund rebuilds ect. I think I’ll sell it spares or repairs. See what I can reclaim :(
