Bit odd this........ When Ive started my series 88 1974 SWB landy up and Im warming her up, if I manouver when shes warmed up and I put my foot on the brake pedal the red ignition light comes on and the engine stalls? Other times it doesnt happen but seems to be more lately? Obviously an electrical fault but where to start???? Any pointers please would be gratefully received. :)

You are using the clutch :) snigger.

What engine is it? Petrol diesel 4 or 6?

You could try disconnecting the brake light switch and see if it's still doing it. I can't think of anywhere else that the brakes and electrics meet on a SWB.

Brake servo, hmm, hadn't thought of that. The ignition light will come on at very low revs before the engine stalls so it might not be an electrical problem.

Engine and gear box mounts gone soft, and or one or more broken resulting in motor moving forward when braking and pulling back on the accelerator link. Look at your gearstick when you brake is it moving a lot? Some models had a rod from the chassis to the gearbox to limit this movement. Cheers.

Dont have a servo fitted and yes Rosebud its just any pressure on the brake pedal. Will try all the other suggestions and thank you all SO MUCH! Wonderful responce! :) Havnt been able to look at it yet as dispite rest of UK basking In sunshine, up here in Hebrides its been VERY VERY wet! :(

Well, Looks like faulty Brake switch mounted on peddle. Just ordered new one. Same thing was happening with side/head lamp switch and guess what, tested and found that faulty too! Ordered new one. When they arrive will let you know if problem goes away....... fingers crossed!
