End of the road for Disco 2

Hi All
After 15 years with my Disco 2 it become uneconomical to get through the mot.
I want to say thanks to the landyzone for all the help I got from the members with the various problems I had over the years.
As a result I have got a few bits and pieces I no longer need such as a Land Rover workshop manual,
spanner for removing cooling fan , repair kit for starter motor.

What exactly made your motor uneconomical to get thro an MOT ?

The answer to your question is as follows.
I was increasingly getting the 3 Amigos and I had a recurring leak on one rear hub also the sprag connection on the water pump was so worn it was making a terrible noise.
A new ACE pump was needed and I have had a leaking roof due to the roof not being seal properly when it was replaced.
Cost to get it through the MOT was estimated between £2000 - £3000 so it went to Dunsfold as spares.
I had 15 years with it and it never let me down but I have spent a lot of money over those years. If you keep your Disco you are going to need a healthy bank balance.

Obviously too late to comment but £2 to £3k to repair would seem extremely high even fitting a new Ace pump ( around £450 )

Disco's 2's are appreciating vehicles,

Problem is I am nearly 80 and whilst in my younger years I would have a go at anything but arthritis has put pay to all but the most simple jobs.
The problem is that it looked like the rear axle casing needed replacing as the seating was damaged and to remove a roof, re tack weld and seal is a big time consuming job.
Sad as I liked the disco have replaced it with a volvo XC90.

I think nearly 80 is a very valid point
Have you anyone to pass it too in the family?? for them to start a 'Love Affair' or "Love Hate" relationship with Land Rover Discovery 2???

Quite a few disco owners seem to be going for the volvos.

Did you find anyone to take over your Disco??
If not! there in a elder gentlemen living in Sandringham, Norfork who may be in need of one!!

It would appear his vehicle has already gone to DUNSFOLD as spares so any comments are academic.

Afraid it went to DLR at Dunsfold Last year probably to be cannibalized.
