Does anyone know if I can rest the EMS code with BECM, useing Lynx Diagnostics, if so could you let me know how. I got the car home from London on a trailer. I put a new battery on it and fitted new door lock new ignition barrel and BECM off another vehicle same tear and model. The central locking works, the ignition key works, the engine turns over but will not start, Am I right in thinking it needs the EMS and BECM syncing

Sorry its a 1999 P38 2.5 DHSE. I have found the security code but cant find how to enter it into the BECM. I have a message come up on my lynx saying the EMS has gone out of sync with BECM. Also it is saying the ECU is locked.

That would make sense. In the Nanocom it is easy but never played with a Lynx. Are the instructions any use?

I keep reading the manual but cant make head nor tail of it. I will get there eventually :(

Don't know if Lynx can do that. But if it can you will have to go into BECM diagnostic mode to change it. Connect diag with ignition OFF goto BECM > Settings > Alarm. You should get a message on dash saying "Diagnostic Mode". Find EMS code select and delete it, then enter the one from the engine ECU and write to BECM. Switch ignition on and engine should start.

I am totally confused now, to many abreviations, I know what EMS and BECM stand for but all the others are double dutch to me. My Lynx says that my ecu ??? is locked , can I unlock it or am i haveing to spend more money.
Is the security code the one I need to write to the BECM. I have a fault code 27 = Anti-theft system ( what the ---- do I do about that). Also 0008 = no communication to centre console, 0040= no comunication to right hand outpost.
0080= no communication to left hand outpost. I have found EDC ??? Motoronic code, what do I do with that, no rude remarks please.

EDC is Electronic diesel control. Motronic is petrol engine control. Have you got the correct engine selected in BECM? Needs to be, Late EDC. Write the code to BECM as described. It maybe just Lynx descriptive wording incorrect. For other faults you should be able to disable the alarm to get it running until you find out what is wrong. You cannot disable the need for the EMS code. You cannot unlock the BECM. All this is so much easier with a Nanocom.

When cheking in the BECM it is asking for none-robust edc or robust.edc which do I need.

Robust is normal EDC ECU setting. Once the ECU is installed in the vehicle it is set to robust which means nothing in it like EMS code can be changed.

I have set it to robust. Is the Ems code the one I have as ( security code ) in Lynx four digits.

You read the EMS code from the engine ECU it MUST match the one in the BECM. If it doesn't delete the one in the BECM and substitute it with the one from the Engine ECU then write it to BECM. It must be done when BECM is in diagnostic mode as explained earlier. If you can't do it with Lynx throw it in the bin and get a Nanocom.
