electrics

heres a good one, landy 90 1986 starts fine all indications good on dash, when i use any electrical circuits i loose all electrical power , switch off and start again all good until i use a circuit , all earths to engine and chassis are good , starts everytime but like i said cant use lights, heaters,indicators ,brakes, anything , need help asap i am going :crazy:

do the circuits work with engine off? which circuits are you trying? do your gauges work?

i had a funny kind of carry on with my 1989 90 very similar it turned out to be the fuse box. some of the fuses although intact were just old and not as good plus they were loose in the clips also some old worn wire loose bulbs and the two fuse holders falling out of the holes due to just been old and worn. i spent 4 days just going back and forth getting everything cleaned and tightened all i,m missing now is main beam and the handbrake light which i will sort later when i've got my sanity back (if i was sane would i own two landrovers)

with engine off and ignition on its still the same, ign lights on dash always work regardless , but once i loose all my other circuits the landy wont start ??

i would investigate the starter solenoid! even though it works to start the car, it may be dragging all voltage? coz all circuits are effected! need to look for common things! maybe even look at alternator!
