I was fitting a roof console, took the interior light out. Project not yet finished but now the radio doesn't work, the clock doesn't work and the trip meter doesn't retain the memory.
Have checked all the internal fuses, have I missed one?

Certainly sounds like it, had similar when I was trying to fit a new bulb (in the dark) and accidently shorted the supply that also took out the radio.
 
PS your profile says Disco not Defender so you may be better off asking over there as I don't know your fuse box location / layout
 
Time to update my profile. It is a defender.
Did it totally blow the radio or is there an extra fuse somewhere? The radio 5 amp fuse is ok

No damage to the radio, just no power. Was Fuse 2 IIRC, though yours may differ as mine is a 1996 300
