Would it be possible to remove the drive belt from the aircon compressor and fit an electric motor to drive this compressor instead? I'm not aware that the engine speed affects the operation of the compressor so an constant speed motor would probably work.
The electrical supply to the compressor clutch could be the supply to the new motor (possibly through a relay if it wasn't sufficiently rated to take the load of a motor).
I ask as I would like to be able to switch on the aircon remotely and have it running from my second battery without the engine running. I realise I would then need to swap the supply for the internal heater fan controls to run from the second battery aswell or at least bypass the ignition switch.
Does anybody know if this would be possible? Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated!
