Hi All haven't been on in a while been ill but i am better an back looking for a defender an trying to work out a budget but i have come accross a strange problem my weekness is electrics they hate me what i want to know is how do u put a switch in a cable say the heavy cable from a t-maxx compresser as the switch i would want to use is a carling type switch from mudstuff could i just cut the cable and wire it in but would the switch take the power ????

NO yu wire it like yu wire spotlamps with a relay. So HD cable from battery to relay, live supply to switch then from switch to relay and HD cable from Relay to Compressor. oh and an earth to relay. exactly same as wiring spots.
 
Yeah what redhand said, any heavy duty mechanism should be wired by relay, it'll save the posability of melting switches and the like. i learned loads bout relays and wiring up lights by doing a search on here theres loads on it, good luck!
