Hello All,
I fairly recently re-fitted my tow bar and electrics as it was all rusty
and looked fairly nasty,

I used this from the www to help with the wiring..

everything went well and I tested all the connections with one of these things things..

All was well till I purchased a small trailer, I plugged it in and got all sorts
of strange happenings..
Just thought it was the trailer as it was in a fairly ruff state..
Purchased a new basic lightboard, no fog lights..
Been playing tonight as that was the same,,
1. No Brake Lights,
2. Rear lights work ,but indicators don't,
3. Indicators work but rear lights don't.

I have the buzzing when the indicators are on, with the trailer lights attached,
but something seems to be a miss with either mine or the light boards wiring..
Are there any fuses or relays I should check out..
The strange part about it is that when I check using the tool above;
The Tow Bar wiring is correct,,
The Light boards wiring is correct,,

Its only when you put the two together they seem not to work as you would expect..

I am a novice at this so if the answers could be kept fairly simple it would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks all..

Possibly (probably) a bad earth as said above, and check the trailer board light bulbs too - most trailer boards use the very cheap square lamps which are utter, utter pish and often dont work even when brand new due to poor connections. The tester device may well say it is ok as it uses very low current to check the circuit, but the bad connections dont let enough current to flow to actually light the bulb from the vehicle electrics.

Bin off the tester and get a 12v test lamp. (or make one with an old front indicator bulb holder and bulb from a scrapyard and 2 bits of wire) and methodically check the outputs at your car socket work as they should. Then check the trailer board using 2 bits of wire and a car battery.

I have s problem with my relay.

The standard one has 3 pins and everything works fine including my light board, but there is no indication inside the car.

Bought off eBay a Lucas relay which appeared at first to work properly, single flash of trailer light on dash and indicators work fine. This had 4 pins.

Then I used the car and the trailer light started to flash all the time without any lighting board plugged in and there were other funny flashing happening as well.

Any ideas?
