hi everybody ,i hope someone can help ,we have a 99 td5 manual , my partner used it last weekend and the trailer lights would work ,then all of a sudden they came on ,,then on thursday nite the alarm went off ,i went to it and checked nobody had tampered with it ,they haddnt but it wouldnt lock ,it made the noise that a door was open ,a horn sound at rear ,went round car and shut all doors and still wouldnt lock, next day used car and the indicators would work ,but i took it to work to have a check of fuses etc and other things, and we found if you put the headlights on the indicators work and central locking also works, very strange does anybody think what might be wrong?

sounds like earth fault, you need to look at RAVE and check earths

Sorry don't know if it's just me but that's really hard to read.

1. Your partner used the wagon the other day and was pulling a trailer? and the lights were working ok.

2. Then for no reason they came on, when you were driving without the trailer, or when you stopped the wagon

3. Then on Thursday night the alarm went off for no reason, you checked that the windows etc were ok.

4. you tried to reset/lock the wagon but it won't work, and the alarm stayed off?

5. The next day you drove the wagon and could lock it, also the indicators flashed when you used the keyfob to lock the car.

6.You checked the fuses which were ok

7. you found if you put the headlights on the indicators and central locking would work--- this condradicks No5

8. Yes it's very strange, whats your battery voltage like, have you checked for a lose earth connection- which would make the alarm think that someones trying to fool it by taking the battery off.

Other than that I'm baffled.

Regards Stu:confused:

IM SORRY IT DIDNT READ VERY WELL ,I WANTED TO GET ALL BITS IN IT ,THE LIGHTS ON TRAILER DIDNT WORK ,THEN THEY DID ? ,THE ALARM WENT OFF AND WHEN I UNLOCKED THE CAR IT SWITCHED OFF , THEN AFTER THIS WE FOUND AT WORK THAT IF WE PUT THE HEADLIGHTS ON ALL THE INDICATORS WORKED AGAIN AS WITH THE CENTRAL LOCKING AND HAZZARDS, LOCKED IT UP LAST NITE AND THIS MORNING ALL AS IT SHOULD BE WORKING CORRECT ?THE ONLY THING THAT STILL PUZZLES ME IS THAT THE MILEAGE FLASHS IN THE DISPLAY,I DONT THINK THIS IS RIGHT? MANY THANKS FOR ANY HELP

How does the milage flash, a bright steady flash or a dull pulse type.
If it's bright then it's beyond me, but if it's dull then goes bright I would put it down to a bad connection
