Electric window

Hi everybody
I am new to using forums so please forgive my ignorance!
I have a Discovery TD5. The front passenger electric window started playing up yesterday. Started going down on its own for no reason!. When I press the window button it will go back up after a few trys - any thoughts please?. I am used to working on machinery (usually tractors) so am prepared to do some work myself before giving in and paying garage prices. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you might have some damp in there, (had any rain perchance).

This can cause arcing (sparks and a crackling noise), and can make the circuit live. I look there first.

Check also the switch itself, if you've had the door open whilst it's peeing down.
