I"m a complete amateur when it comes to mechanics, so could someone please tell me "What is the point of de-activating the EGR)?
What benefits would I get from doing it on my TD4?
Is it right that you can pull off the braid vacuum pipe and stick a Golf Tee in the end of it?

on my old mondeo my EGR blocked up the inlet manifold so bad that it ran like it had a misfire when it did run it had LOADS of black smoke on start up and when putting the foot down.

if you block it off you will not have as much black smoke. no worries of your inlet manifold being blocked with black sludge stuff... i personally think my L series drives batter aswell as its not using old exhaust gasses to run the engine

Cleaning out the EGR of the gunk, and fitting a golf tee in the braid pipe to de-activate it is the cheapest and one of the most effective mods you can do.

There are absolutely no negatives at all - it's a 'no-brainer' really.

Clean air - instead of sooty exhaust fumes.

Next stage is to replace the EGR with a by-pass at around £40

Bought a stainless steel Egr bypass kit this morning off eblag.
Cost just under £44 delivered from atskatezet in Newcastle.
Cant wait.
