Hi Guys

On lack of power on the TD4

I was towing my caravan along the M6, and sudenly, lack of power, struggled to keep it over 50, Black smoke, a whistling noise but, when I took the van off, the car seems to be ok. to be honest a thought the lack of power before was normal for these cars but now I'm not so sure.

When it happened I stopped and checked the water and the Oil and they were fine.

Been to a garage today and they have said straight away that it is the EGR valve, I am due to take it in tomorrow morning, so will also take the details of all the other thoughts, 90 degree pipe on base of turbo soliniod and the intercooler hose.

any more ideas

cheers

I would have thought it was one of the intercooler hoses, all symptoms sound like these would be one of the culprits, try unplugging the MAF sensor feed (round the back of the oil filter) and see if it improves as it could be this...

let us know how you get on.

yes check hoses first . . . . .then as stated dissconect maf if they are ok. . . . . .simples:)
