Hi there!

after searching high and low on the forums on how to remove the EGR, I have got a blankingbplate fitted and sorted today! really easy and anyone thinking about doing it, should bite the bullet and have a go.
I got the £19 quid one off fleabay and works a treat.:)

This also helped : for step by step

Difflock: Modifications

but now I got the bug to do more and thought about fitting a de-cat down pipe. so my question is should I and what exactly are the advantages?

I have a 300tdi.

Thanks!

I made an EGR blanking plate out of a bit of sheet steel, cost!! nothing, honest chaps, the kit offered on evilbay is a rip off.
Should you replace your front pipe fitted with a 'cat'?? oh! yes, but do buy the Disco non cat front pipe, a bit extra but worth it.

I made my EGR blanking plate out of a bit of the towing bracket on my disco, again nothing! £19 for a piece of sheet steel... disco towing bracket is 6mm thick! More than enough. Used 2 bolts bought from B&Q though, so mine cost me about 15p over all.

I also decat my eggsorst, i cut out the cat with a grinder, and then mig welded a straight section in, outta a piece of pipe the local exhuast centre gave me, was in their way, sorted! My downpipe was the disco 300tdi one, which i mated to a new centre and rear section in my 90, so i had to adjust the length a bit, so this proved ideal.

Must be a rob thing... im called robin! Erm, it isn't the prettiest of jobs, as is expected, but it works, and also it meant i got experience in welding some more, was chuffed as i managed to fill a 6mm gap with the mig, where my grinding wasn't straight - havn't done much welding before!

freeer flowing exhaust, less back pressure so faster turbo spool up and less lag.
