After ah remove the reservoir, should ah just use some new steerin' fluid to clean this out or is there anything else ah should be usin'?

Cheers;) :D

Bleedin' 'eck Buster...you bin pannin' fer gold???? :p
aye it looks like it martin:D

I'd a thunk that steering fluid would be best...but I'm not the most edukated on such things so I'll defer to them's wot know!!
Ah was goin' tae use sum new fluid, but just wondered if there was maybe summit else;)

Bet yer'll be glad to get that box on and sorted though! ;)
Ah will be once ah've bled it and took it for a test run;) :D

I tek it that thats brass not rust. Any how I'd tek the reservoir off an flush it with petrol an get it as clean as you can, Then I'd run the whole thing fer a while an change the oil.

The only brass, bronze or wotever you like to call it, in the steering gubbins are the bushes on the sector shaft (drop arm shaft) in the steering box, an don't reely see how they could have got so chewed up to get bits up there, there are a couple of sintered bronze bushes in the pump, but if that much ****e had come off them the pump would be rattlin like a good un.

Any how I don't reckon that it won't do yer pump any harm, havin sed that it won't do it any good neither, as long as you flush it all out after a short running time.

cheers for that Grunt;) aye, it was brass and not rust. Took the reservoir of and gave it a good clean out with sum of the new fluid until there wasn't any more bits coming out. Bled the new pump and kept topping up the fluid untill it ran clear as well. Dunno if it was anything to do with the adjuster screw being screwed right down flush with the lockin' nut on the old box or not.
Cheers again;) :D
