I think I damaged an O2 sensor input to my EMC while troubleshooting a O2 sensor problem. Does anyone know if the EPROM is in a socket, and does that hold all programming data? I would like to buy a used EMC and swap the EPROM if possible. It is an 03 Discovery S 4.6 with a Bosch 0261204895 EMC.
Thanks,
Steve

EEPROM is the ECM(engine controll module)'s memory part of the ECM itself... here u have the pin disposals and inputs(the only 24 pin nconnector non ECM)...though i dont really understand what u are asking nor which of the sensors u disturbed:confused:

if this doesnt help u download a RAVE and see the route from the sensor untill the ECM in electric diagrams.

I was getting a code p0150. O2 sensor, pre cat bank 2. I changed the sensor, code came back. Upgraded my code scanner software so I could plot O2 sensor voltages. Only very small voltage from sensor, .01 v, fluctuating slightly.
I ohmed out the wiring harness between the ECU and O2 sensor. Wiring is good, all measured below .3 ohms.

Then I had the stupid idea to apply a small voltage to the input to test. My ohm meter puts out .11 volts, I thought that would work, and it did. Untill I switched the meter over to volts , I measured .45 v. Then when I switched back to ohms, the voltage must have spiked. The measurements on my scan tool changed to a constant .45 v. No change if open, or shorted. I also do not measure the .45 v at the O2 sensor connector. Now I get code p0154, no O2 sensor activity.
I think I damaged the EMC input/output for that sensor.

I just swapped the left and right pre cat sensors, and discovered that I installed a bad sensor.

I am waiting for things to cool so I can swap them back. I will ohm out the harness again, to see if I missed something.

If I have to replace the EMC, I would like to try installing a used EMC. $1350 new from dealer, $100 used off Ebay.

I dont think the dealer will reprogram a used EMC for me. They would not answer the question, they recommended against used parts. A independent shop will program for about $300. I don't know if they will reprogram a used computer.

If I cant get it programmed, I would like to swap the EPROM from my old EMC in to the used computer.

Thats the story, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
