Did sound iffy ter me an orl. Sounds like he's taken it in part ex or something if it was his he'd have some idea of what the B/head & chassis were like. Prob' tried to get a ticket on it & needs loads of work to get thru.

What do you think i should pay for a f reg 90 with a defender 200TDi put in it, that needs minor chassis welding and a few other minor bits doing? Would £900 be too much?

Depends how 'minor' the welding needed is? If there's a lot or there's already been a lot & this is more, you'll just be fighting a losing battle.

I'd offer £600 and haggle from there...... £750 in used folding would be a fair price in my opinion

I worked on the basis of what I would pay for a vehicle in the condition described, and based on what I paid for my 90. I go in low and haggle up whenever I buy a car - my first offer will always be well below asking price. In the case of a £900 90 i'd even be tempted to go in at half that, and offer no more than three quarters.

Of course, this is all theoretical, given that I haven't seen the car.....

the bloke rekons it hasn't been MOT'd for 3 years, cos hes been working on it slowly. I rekon it should probably be avoided...

On that basis only buy it for what you could get for it if you broke it.
