on a 95 3.9 automatic. not sure exactly where its leaking from just know its leaking right onto the catalytic converter and smoking and stinking like hell. it looks like a mess under there so far so im not looking forward to it. should i change the filter also while its apart cuz the only thing i can find about how to do this is the lines go into the filter but i cant see it. sucks cuz i changed the trans cooler a couple weeks ago cuz it was leaking and now what looks to be the beginning of the lines are leaking.

Did you have any leaks before you swapped the oil cooler and you did all the pipe unions up tight enough and didnt get any cross threaded? Also I'm pretty sure there might be an o ring seal on those unions which is easy to chew up/lose/be unaware of. I'd clean it all off, check the joints and run it for a day first before pulling it all apart

found the culprit.

this rubber line seems like a **** idea to me. im thinkin of cutting the steel lines, flaring the ends and substituting the rubber for 1/2 inch brake line.

Glad you found the problem bud, just remember that it may have been engineered to use a flexible rubber hose for a reason though, you may cause yourself more problems in the long run ;)
