Hi all,
I have dreaded this day,
this morning the air suspension didn't rise, I drove to bottom of road as sometimes it is a bit slow to lift, all lights came on & eas fault appeared, now showing max 35mph.
Suspension rose at one point but is now stuck on bump stops.
EAS box is engine warm, compressor feels cold.
Where do I start?
Thanks Marky

Hello Marky,

Do you hear the compressor running ?

These items cost about 300 Euros, to exchange at a landrover dealer,

Do a search on this site and you will find a supplyer who can provide you with
a replacment piston for your compressor (if thats your fault) at around a 1/5th of the cost.

The only other issue you will have is to get the EAS reset at a dealer (50 Euros) once the fault is cleared. also check out Range Rovers

Will show you how to do the job,

Cheers Dutch RR

Hi Marky, theres got to be a reason why the air pump dont work. Most common fault is that one or more of the air bags has a punture and needs replacing. This could cause the air pump to overheat and fail. So you may be looking at a replacement pump and at least one air bag. On e of the other common faults is when you have a faulty exhaust system the HOT air is blown onto the airlines under the car and melts them! Yes it does happen. Try and keep away from recon units they are sometimes very noisey and dont last long. Hope this as been of some help, Bazz.

Thanks for reply Dutch rr,
No I cant hear the compresser running or feel any movement from casing, I will investigate.

Hi Marky,

Where do you live?

Have you got a laptop?

If you have you can buy a lead from Taw4x4 and check and reset your EAS the software will also allow you to switch the pump on and off.

If you live near Reading I have the setup and also a pump you can try

You will need your EAS re-set if it has a hard fault.

When the engine is running and the EAS cover is removed you can feel and hear the compressor running, if is not then it may be the TOC inside yhe pump. This is a known fault when the pump has remained on because the piston rings have worn.
Someone has posted which pins can be linked to prove this. Have a look on this site. DO NOT LEAVE THEM LINKED just try.

Fred

Thanks Fred,
Live in essex unfortunately, but thanks anyway.
I have had the pump running by jumping relay pins, but still on bump stops. I have today ordered piston repair kit, as my piston seal is perished.
Then I will have to have fault reset, local garage wants £25 + vat,
I am looking into purchasing my own cable although I am not very good with computers & don't know if would be capable of reset.

Hi Marky,
Taw4x4 produce a good lead with full software on disc. About £20.
The lead has a "d" connector on the computer end and you will need a "d " connector serial port on your laptop, most new laptops will not have one of these so you will need another adaptor cum lead to convert to usb.
This lead cum adaptor is available on ebay (next day delivery for about £6 including p&p. This lead comes with the software to configure the pc and enable the comm port.

Sounds complicated but its not ...
1,Copy EAS software folder to desktop from disc, store the disc away safely. (No need to load programme as it is self executing)
2,Connect lead to car
3,Connect usb lead to car lead and pug into computer
4,Computer will ask for driver disc ( this is becuse its a usb device rather than just a lead and has components built into the plug at one end ), this disc will come with your lead cum adaptor.
5,Wait for driver to load and watch for a notice saying which comm port it has assigned, Possibly 4 or 5.
6,READ THE README FILES
7,Switch car ignition switch to position2 (Radio and Hevac will operate if switched on
8,Run the Fault programme
Ignore description and error messages Press OK
9,When program loads .. Click EAS tools and set comport to the No. assigned when the driver loaded.
If you can't remember click on each comm port no. in turn and when you don't get an error message you have found the correct port no.
10, Initialise and you should see hex nos appear in the TX and RX collumns
Ignore these as they will just tell you Tx Transmitting and RX Recieving
You can now read and reset faults.

If you would like shortcuts to the suppliers just ask

It's easier to use than you think, and under £30 for the set

The RUN Pump will allow you to listen for leaks while the engine is not running.. Great
The program is not without glitches but the more people to use and report to the authors the better it will get.

Regards Fred
