EAS Kicker

Hi all
Does anyone have a kicker that I could borrow for 2 mins just to see if it sorts out the EAS? Based in fareham, hampshire

Use the free EAS suite and find out what is wrong. the kicker will clear a fault but not tell you what the fault is unless I'm mistaken.

yep your bang on! kicker just clears + eas cable is cheeper from you know who

Really? How? it has no display!
Or im I thinking of something else?
Edit: just looked it up its the eas kicker light im thinking of but still a dam sight cheeper to get the eas cable and a old second hand laptop

Eas kicker has a display screen.You are thinking of an EAS kicker Lite which does not have a screen and only resets faults.

Already got EAS software etc off Data but unfortunately after many attempts to sort out the software on my new laptop it doesn't want to know, hence why I just wanted to borrow a kicker for 2 minutes to see if it sorted the problem out, but no worries i'll just bite the bullet & buy one, cheers

Cheaper to sort the USB to serial adaptor for your laptop or get a Card Bus to serial adaptor if your laptop has a Carb Bus port.

Shame your not closer I have a working eas data lead and lap top could have substituted your parts one by one to get you working
Edit: reread you have a new laptop? What windows is it running? Eas suite dont like win8 but old used laptops are cheep on eBay
Some are like £20 cheep

Cheers G but just bitten the bullet & ordered one. When I say new laptop its a refurb'd & running Windows XP, can open up Rave CD & everything else just wont run the EAS software, says cant find "runtime" or something, not a teccie so know idea about it, bloody shame though as it woulda just saved me £50!

That just needs a free download of Net framework from Microsoft.

Already done that 3 times, downloaded didn't work so wiped it off then re-downloaded etc but still not working for some reason Keith, no idea why?

You are doing the download wrong or you have not installed it. Did you read the download instructions?
Which version of net Framework are you trying to download? The latest version does not work on XP.

Listen to Keith, his advice was valuable to me! I had to go buy a £20 adaptor from Maplin to get my laptop to work with it, something to do with the way it is wired up to the USB?? far to intelligent for me, but that worked! If I had listened to Keith and got his advice before I went to Ebay it would have saved me loads of time and hart ache. (and money)
I have the Kicker lite but it's not a spot on the software... That said, it can be the best thing ever if you get stuck and don't have your laptop with you. I live two hours away other wise I'd come and give you a hand
