eas fault

Hi guys

I have a 1998 p38 diesel.
I also have a eas hard fault. I have the obd lead and the software, I have followed the instructions but cannot seem to reset it. It keeps coming on eas fault 35mph max.

I am running on my new laptop with windows 7.

What was the Hard fault code? (assuming you have got that fare)....

The dash will read 35max when you play with the software connected anyway and remains on the dash even after you detach the lead. It should however clear when you switch the ignition back on (assuming that you cleared the faults via the 'unlock' function on the software).

Assuming you have the RSW software, did the little box near the top of the screen go from red to green and display good idle? If not you will achieve nothing.
Vista and probably 7 as it's pretty much the same have problems with USB to serial adaptors.
If you did get good idle, what faults did it give?

yes i got good idle

faults wer lots of air leak

valves closed can remember now but a whole list came up.

i pressed the buttons in the required sequence, closed the programme then turned ignition off and unplugged lead.
then turning back on fault was still there.


its sooooooo annoying. is there any way of knowing if windows 7 is the problem?

Problem sorted.

Reverted to my old laptop with windows xp and it worked first time.
2 faults came up and was cleared straight away.

Good old XP

Just goes to show that 7 is just as big a load of crap as Vista.

works fine with my laptop running vista never had any probs

Try running the RSW software in compatability mode. Right click on the executable and click on PROPERTIES, COMPATABILITY and then select XP from the drop down list.

Maybe its a driver issue with usb-serial?

No comparision vista is **** full stop win 7 i fink is very good sometimes get grief with programs not compat with 64bit but thats about it

Oh that were so simple, I have several programs that will not run on Vista, nor will they run properly in compatability mode. Some will open and run but not close, others just crash the system. Windows 7 appears to be the same as Vista with some of the bugs removed, it still does not network well with XP. Window 7 pro is now being sold with an XP downgrade as was Vista because of the problems
