Hi, Please redirect me if I'm asking about this in the wrong area but it will be a start.....our family have been running a 1996 4.6 RR hse for the past 10yrs as a tow car. 30K ago it had a new "crated" V8 and was converted to LPG. It still runs great but we now have a problem with the EAS in that we have the dreaded "35mph Max" warning on the dash and the suspension is down on it's stops. Whilst this may be a straightforward fix (dependant on the problem ie pump/bags and so on) we dont want to spend a fortune on diagnostics to find out it's to far gone and ready for the breakers. So, the question is are there any EAS experts or DIYers in the Worcester area who can can give us some guidance?

Shame to scrap it as it's been a good servant that still looks the part and goes very well, thanks in advance. Chris.

:welcome2:

First thing is to send a PM to a member on here called Datatek, he can supply the EAS diagnostic lead and Software for about £11 plus postage.....this is a MUST HAVE item...

This will allow you to read the faults stored on the ECU, Clear them and also recalibrate the suspension....

2nd thing, if the Airbags are original, they'll be knackered by now, and most likely you have a serious leak and the poor compressor has given up the ghost....

First thing is to get the diagnostics lead from Datatek...and tell us what faults are stored....anything else is just guesswork...

The EAS is fairly simple in operation and is definatly not worth scrapping for.....get the lead, read the codes, force start the compressor and check the airflow....come back to us...

Can't check compressor with it in hard fault, unless you a) run it with diagnostics or b) bridge the contacts/direct run to battery....

That is covered in the "How to" Ant. "Checking compressor off the vehicle" But even if it is good, he will have to clear hard fault before system will work. :):)

Hmm I was hoping u were nearer evesham as I've got the diagnostic cd and leads but doubt ill get time to get to hallow and back

I have bought the lead/cd and downloaded it to my laptop however it won't initialise with the car? I'm fairly confident that I have done the download as required but having no knowledge of this particular system it's like working in the dark. If anyone local has got the download on their laptop and got it working I'm happy to pay fuel + beer for a meet. hanks in advance, Chris

Most issues with the EAS software are down to the USB drivers for the serial connector, did you get the lead and disc from Datatek?

You need to ensure you get a good idle on the EAS software indicated by a green button I believe before it will talk to the car, try changing the comm port and reload the USB drivers.
